Sharps!
Glif makers Dan Provost and Tom Gerhardt are at it again with another Kickstarter project, this time for a wide-grip stylus that feels more like a dry erase marker rather than a pen:
Writing or drawing on the iPad feels nothing like using a pen or pencil. For one, tablets are ideal for low fidelity sketching. Also, it is pretty awkward to rest your palm on the screen of the device because it throws off the capacitive detection. Writing on a tablet feels like writing on a dry erase board: fast, simple, low fidelity.
They’re also testing a new funding model by choosing a Radiohead-esque, pay-as-you-wish approach. As long as the $50,000 goal is met, any pledge $1 or more will be accepted. But there’s a catch. Only the first 3,000 backers will be accepted in this first run, requiring backers to pledge at least $17 to fund the project. (As of this posting, 618 people have pledged $9,444 for an average of $15.28 per backer.)
